Escape

Such a breath of fresh air (literally) to be so far away from the city and just enjoy life in the countryside. Being amongst the serenity and beauty of nature simply makes me realize there are so much more to be thankful for in life beyond the typicalities that meet the eye...

Sticks and Stones

One of my favourite latest purchases: a studded pouch-like sling bag with fringe trimming from Dangerfield. It literally has everything that a girl as valorous as I am could ever need in a purse!

Fashion Talks: Margaret Robertson of Nom*D

This past Wednesday evening saw the first event of Fashion Talks 2011 featuring New Zealand designer Margaret Robertson of Nom*d, a cult label born in 1986, known for using dark and somber colours in its design ideas influenced by youth subculture. Hugely inspired by Japanese designers' one-size-fits-all philosophy in dressing, this creative label thrives on challenging the notion of ideal body shapes with captivating distorted silhouettes... and from looking over their collections, I'm simply rocked by their latest winter 2011 compilation 'Danse Macabre' that pushes the art of asymmetry, monochromy, and simplicity to a level beyond compelling.

Life in the Wild

Keeping it simple and easy with a cashmere sweater top bought in London, Mango sunnies, Sportsgirl panel leggings and vintage boots while enjoying the flora and fauna at Caversham Wildlife Park. So amazing the nature is – mere beautiful seconds spent watching these handsome sleeping bats left a wide smile on my face that lasted throughout the day. Snapped at what probably was their most peaceful hour, they reminded me how worry-free life could (and should) be!

Slice of the Action

Close ups of what I wore to the Made on the Left designer markets and the Art Gallery of Western Australia this past weekend.

Dressing monochromatically left plenty of room for me to toy with different shapes and textures, hence my initiative to dress in mainly black but still exercising some sort of effort to exihibit excitement and wit in the whole outfit with a boxy tee parameterized with fringes teamed with a vintage wooden necklace and military inspired suede boots from Nine West. The current chilly weather here in Perth obviously makes it more fun to complete each getup with boots and I can't seem to stop gathering more and more... I recently came across K and Co's chic collection of ladies shoes and was just left drooling over the high cut distressed military boots by Joe Browns (perfect go-to pair for day) and the strapped over the knee boots by Love Label for endless nocturnal adventures!

C O L O U R S

My first visit ever to the Art Gallery of Western Australia and it couldn't have been a more enlightening experience! Why I didn't come here sooner is beyond me... this place practically feels like second home. I find the contemporary arts section most compelling, where one of the currently showing exhibitions Remix showcases outstanding works by twenty contemporary Western Australian artists of diverse backgrounds, age and experience. The exhibition includes a wide range of media arts illustrated via painting, sculpture, design, photography, textile and filmic work.

Made on the Left

Snaps from the 'Made on the Left' designer market today at One40William here in Perth.

'
Made on the Left' is a concept realized in 2008 by independent designers to support Western Australian creative talents. This non profit organization runs high quality designer handmade markets showcasing the best independently made art, design and fashion created here on the left/west side of Australia (hence the name!).

I got the chance to browse over so many interesting stalls selling various unique products, including Plain Paper Plane that was selling high quality leather bound journals and the Micalu stall that captured my heart with a plethora of intricate hand worked jewelries made from vintage silver plated cutlery!

This Past Week!

1. Spent my food money on this new pair of military inspired babies by Nine West instead. Worth every inch of my starvation!

2. Enjoying the beautiful sunset at Hillarys Beach right before the
Alpha Models fashion showcase.

3. With my dear friend Agnieszka, having a blast at the
Skatt Claremont opening party!

4. A fresh bouquet of vividly hued flower mix by a special someone easily brightened up my otherwise seemingly gloomy room due to a rainy week here in Perth...

5. Little Caesar's Pizzeria in Leederville -- serving the best pizzas in town!

6. Donning blacks and greys because seriously... what other colours are more appropriate for this foggy weather?

Alpha Models at Hillarys Yatch Club

Witnessing the Alpha Models fashion showcase at the Hillarys Yatch Club ballroom that overlooks the beautiful colour-changing sky and ocean as the sun dips into the horizon was nothing short of breathtaking! With such a sublime venue and timing, the rest of the evening was purely an added bonus entailing a phenomenal catwalk introduction with Beyonce's We Run the World (Girls) in the background, decadent cheese platter and drinks as we socialized and networked with the rest of the audience and of course a parade of stunning models exhibiting great clothes from Temt, Betty Sugar, Jonté Pike, and many other crafty designers!
