Three days in Kuala Lumpur were enough to make me feel suffocated and just ready to leave the city so without hesitation my siblings and I hit the road... to travel to North Malaysia! First stop: Penang Island here we come!
1. Favoured adornment style choice of late: bigger is better. Chunky vintage choker necklace bought at a market in Malaysia and custom made oversized buckled leather cuff.
2. Random snap on Murray Street while shopping. In total agreement with her: Black on black, permanent tribute to granddad and messy mane.
A brilliant sunny weekend almost always promises consecutive joy-filled adventures in my books and the most recent one include going crazy at the Shakuhachi pop up sale, indulging in massive meals with zero guilt, getting inspired by Kirsty Spraggon at the Perth Business Chicks breakfast event and the usual (and easiest!) route to instant happiness... witnessing the setting sun by Hillarys boat harbour!
The super mega awesome fun that was the launch of General Pants in Perth city this past Saturday August 13th as brilliantly photographed by Sabine Albers!
Two of my favourite antique silver necklaces with turquoise accents, scored while on a trip back to Malaysia two months ago. I remember spending over an hour in the tiny market-like jewelry shop that was almost hidden amongst other mega sized brand stores at Berjaya Times Square mall. The simple fact that the shop looked abandoned was enough to compel me to enter and immediately find myself drenched with regret for not bringing my camera along to capture the beauty that filled every single inch of the shop's wall. I found it utterly magical how the shop owner, who travels around the world to source the pieces for her shop, somehow just knew my taste and style as she presented a plethora of antique jewelries and accessories made of pure silver, exuberant stones, ethnic beads and exotic minerals. I ended up spending more than I could afford in that shop alone but it was probably one of the happiest purchases I've ever made. Without a doubt I'll stop by that little hut of gem again during my trip to Malaysia end of this month... and be sure not to forget my camera second time around!
It was truly an honour to hear award winning Australian designer Kristy Lawrence speak about her label Flannel at the fourth and final event of Fashion Talks 2011. Together with husband John, they entertained the audience with the story behind the brand that is known for its effortless elegance and organic luxury. Through the fusion of lightweight cottons, natural leathers and sensual silk in its effortlessly clean designs, the label aims to provide its wearer a mode to inject a dose of opulence in everyday wear. As Kristy herself claimed, donning Flannel is all about indulging in the softness and comfort of the fabric -- immersing in the way it feels on one's skin.
At the opening of Lilly Loves Tea, a new boutique in Claremont showcasing the latest spring collections by One Teaspoon and other labels. It was such a pleasure to browse over a loadful of eye candies available for sale, including my own personal favourites: oversized abstract-printed kimono-style cardigans, cut-off supershort shorts and an asymmetrical dress with scale detailing.
Few of the many fascinating items that caught the attention of my camera during my recent wandering around Perth city. It's pretty obvious that photographing fun and imaginative pieces like these is the easiest route to injecting my soul with instant joy and inspiration!
